update 04-09-2021

COVID-19 is like a roller coaster, down but going up.

“MASKS UP, IT’s THE PATRIOTIC THING TO DO!”

“REINSTATE THE MASKS MANDATES, PLEASE!”

“The Failure to take this virus seriously is what got us in this mess in the first place.”

          Biden

In February we passed the 500,000 Death Rate in the United States

Biden hit the mark of 100 million vaccinated in under 100 days, so he is now trying to get 200 million Americans vaccinated in his administration’s first 100 days.   57.9 million Americans are fully vaccinated.

We need 75-80% of all Americans vaccinated in order to achieve herd immunity.   Once a person has been fully vaccinated, they become a dead host which means they can no longer transmit the virus.

The Pandemic had been slowing but it is now starting to spike again. Twenty-seven states have rising cases and deaths and hospitalization are starting to inch up. Four states are actually surging; especially Michigan and New Jersey. States are opening up and dropping the masks mandates.

Biden would like to have 600 million doses of vaccines administered by the end of July 2021 with hopes of normalcy by Christmas 2021.

To mark the 500,000 Americans dying of COVID-19 virus, flags atop Federal buildings were flown at half-staff and President Biden led a moment of silence.

“I know what it is like to not be there when it happens. I know what it is like when you are there, holding their hands as they look you in the eyes and they slip away. That black hole in your chest, you feel like you’re being sucked into it.   Your survivors’ remorse, anger, the questions of faith in your soul. Some of you have spent a year, a month, a week, a day, even an hour and I know when you stare at that empty chair around the kitchen table it brings it all back no matter how long ago it happened. As if it just happened that moment when you looked at the empty chair.   The birthdays, the anniversaries, the Holidays without them. The everyday things, the small things, the tiny things that you miss the most.   That scent when you open the closet. The park you go by that you used to stroll, the movie theatre where you met, the morning coffee you shared together, the bend in his smile, the perfect pitch to her laugh.   I know it’s hard, I promise you I know it’s hard. I remember, but that’s how you heal, you have to remember.”

Biden in memorial of 500,000 COVID-19 USA deaths.

Vaccine testing goes on.

It is now known that Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are safe for pregnant women. Pfizer is starting to test vaccine in five to ten years old children. Moderna is testing a “Booster” for the South African variant of the COVID-19 virus.

The J&J rollout was slower than expected.  Now the Johnson and Johnson may be on hold.  Three vaccine sites had to shut down due to what has grown to be at least 26 adverse reactions.  The states of Iowa, Colorado, Georgia, and North Carolina have reported problems with the J&J vaccine. The CDC stated the reactions are minor and everyone should eat a snack and drink water before getting their shots.

With new technology like Messenger RNA, upgrading vaccines to fight new variants can be accomplished quickly with a few weeks to a couple of months to manufacture large volumes with newer vaccines.   This is good news since California, New York and other states that now have their own variants.

New study reveals Pfizer vaccine 85% to 90% effective after one dose. Once antibodies are formed in about two weeks the Pfizer is very effective against illness. How long the vaccine efficacy will last is an unknow factor.

When it comes to getting vaccinated, don’t be choosy, any vaccine is better than no vaccine.

Once fully vaccinated you still need to heed the 3 W’s: Wash Hands, Wear Masks and Watch distancing. Doing this will get us to herd immunity faster, as soon as we reach this which we can begin to enjoy our family and friends again.

TRUMP WAS SICK

Trump was sicker than originally reported. He was very close to being ventilated. His oxygen level fell into the low 80’s. Melania was also very ill and it took a long time for her to recover. There was a lung condition. Both Trump and Melania took a new drug called “Regeneron”.

                                                                                                                           - Mark Mazzetti

In the beginning some folks wanted to be vaccinated so bad that they lied about their age, dressed as grannies and jumped the line like Senator Marco Rubio.

Florida is handing out the vaccines in a discriminate manner. Most Floridians getting the vaccine are white, wealthy and republican. Non-whites, poor, and democratic counties are not getting vaccinated because according to the governor these counties are not using the vaccines fast enough and so the allotted portions are moved elsewhere. Florida is vaccinated those in the most affluent zip codes first.

3.7 % of Black Floridians have been vaccinated, while 9.7 of whites are vaccinated.

Republican senators are refusing to get vaccinated. Trumpians and especially non-white Trumpians and Republicans need to get vaccinated.  Come on folks, GET THE FIX!

UK rampant in US

The UK COVD-19 Virus variant is everywhere in the United States. It is the fastest growing variant and it is affecting mostly younger adults.   65 and older are receiving their vaccines in record numbers and are becoming dead hosts who hopefully can no longer transmit the virus.

Biden has stated that by April 19 every American 18 years and older will be eligible for the vaccine. There are myriad vaccine sties and drugstores: CVS, Rite-Aid and Walgreens are starting to schedule the vaccinations.   Any questions, try sites like PlanYourVaccine.com. Please get the vaccine ASAP!

Note: Some Colleges will require COVID-19 vaccine for their fall semester students.

$1400 Relief for ALL

Biden and Congress passed the $1.9 Trillion COVID-19 Bill. The legislation will provide:

First and fore most $1400.00 direct payments to eligible taxpayers. There are billions of dollars for schools, local and state governments and businesses. Republicans did not vote for the bill, but the Democrats who did pass the bill are hoping for an end to the pandemic and a healthy economy.

  • Unemployed benefits at $300.00 a week will be extended through Sep 6, 2021.
  • A 100% subsidy of COBRA Insurance for the unemployed. This ensures that the jobless, meaning those that got laid-off, can stay on their employer health plan through Sep 2021.
  • Those individuals making $75,000.00 or less are eligible for the $1400.00 direct payment. Married couples making $150,000.00 will get $2800.00.
  • The size of the checks will decrease as the Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) increases up to $80,000.00 for singles and $160,000.00 for married couples. The cut off amounts are $80,000- singles/$160,000- married couples.
  • Local, State and Tribal governments will get $350,000 billion for their costs up to year 2024.
  • $130,00.00 will go to schools to help kindergarten students up to 12th grade. The goal is to reduce class size, enhance classroom social distancing, install virus filtering ventilation systems, and provide personal protection equipment (PPE).
  • Colleges and Universities will get $40 billion to help lessen the cost of pandemic expenses.
  • Operational expenses such as meeting payroll, rent and utilities will be met by $28.6 billion program for restaurants and bars. Though not as big in previous legislation there is a $7.25 billion paycheck protection program (PPP).
  • Testing for COVID-19 will be expanded by a $50 billion injection which will expand laboratories and set up more mobile testing units. There is $15 billion for distribution and administration of the COVID-19 vaccines.
  •  Combating the virus will get $10 billion booster. Under the Defense Production Act, the supply of medical equipment, such as N95 masks, ventilators and other devices will be increased.
  • The cost of coverage for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will be subsidized through year 2022, and more middle-class families will be able to qualify.
  • States will get $3 billion to help with mental health and substance abuse. Both of these health issues have increased with the pandemic.
  • $14 billion will go for the support of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The $15.00 an hour was not included in the bill as a concession to Republicans who did not vote for the legislation anyway. It was a complete waste of time trying to get the Republicans on board.

Checks were distributed immediately because unlike Trump, Biden did not delay the process by adding his name to the checks which would cause the checking writing application to be reprogrammed and that takes time.

When Texas Freezes Over

Matthew Dowd, Former Chief Strategist for President G. W. Bush and founder of ”Country Over Party”, On Texas Freeze: Ten years ago, there was a written report that warned about what could happen if the Texas grid was not updated and winterized to protect against extreme winters.

Freezes have happened before and the grid is not prepared for extreme weather.

The Green New Deal deal hadn’t come into fruition yet, so even though he tried, Governor Abbott could not blame the potential bill for the Texas Deep Freeze problem. According to Dowd “Oil and Gas deregulation industries and Texas inability to pay for infrastructure caused the problem”

Texans had to endure no heat, no food and no water. A child died from hypothermia in his unheated home. In 1935 Texas did not take advantage of FDR’s new deal because administrators at that time wanted to regulate their own power grid.   Texas is oil country. Oil, coal and gas generate the majority of its energy. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) sets policies and prices.

Grid energy charges electricity on a variable rate plan and bills are normally below $50.00. Due to the privatization of the grid and the storm, citizens were experiencing utility bills ranging from $1500.00 to more than $10,000.00. The rates are set by the public utility company.

Another problem is Governor Abbott who is a climate denier and is willing to point his finger at Representative AOC, author of the Green New Deal, ERCOT, Wind power and Solar power for all of Texas winter storm problems.

The power grid was 4.5 minutes away from complete failure. Water treatment plants were off line and 50 were dead due to hypothermia and carbon monoxide poisoning.

During the mist of all these problems in Texas, Ted Cruz, decided to abandon Texas’ cold weather and his constituents by taking a vacation in Cancun after telling Texans “If you can stay home, don’t go out on the road. Don’t risk the ice.” While Texans froze without food and water, Ted Cruz enjoyed the warm temperatures and nice weather of Cancun, Mexico. Back home, Texans were dying and without water due to the storm disaster. If they had access to water, they had to boil it. Store shelves were empty.

Cruz later admitted the trip was a mistake and Heide, his wife, stated that their house was freezing and she planned the trip for family and friends. Cruz said he had only planned to stay the weekend with the family in the Ritz Carlton, which is a 5-star hotel charging $309.00 minimum per night.

Cruz had criticized Chris Christy for going to the beach during a storm after Christy closed all the beaches and he criticized former President Obama for golfing.

Matthew Dowd said,” Ted from the days when I knew him as a staffer, has always been concerned about himself.”

During the bush campaign it was rumored that one of the quickest ways to end a meeting was to invite Ted Cruz to it. Apparently, no one wanted to be at meeting with Ted Cruz.

While vacationing in Cabo, Mayor Stephen Ira Adler of Austin Texas, told his constituents to “Stay home if you can…this is not the time to relax”. Adler had taken a private jet with eight others to Cabo

.

Mayor Sylvester Turner of Houston spoke with the Biden administration in February but at the time of crises, but did not get the opportunity to speak with the Governor Abbott.

   STOP The Hate Asian Americans are being attacked because mistaken Americans think Asians are the cause of the Pandemic. Fatal attacks are being driven by hate and even Blacks are attacking Asians. One down trodden population attacking another down trodden population. This line of thought goes back to former President In Name Only (PINO) Trump’s “Cong flu” theory and lies. His seemingly hatred of non-whites has caused an increase of ‘American on American’ crime. Hate crimes against Asians in American are probably much higher than reported. Asians in the USA are Americans.

    update 01-14-2021

There are over 353,648 confirmed Covid-19 Deaths in the United States.

We have over 22,750,000 confirmed Cases.

More than 121,463 Hospitalized.

Over 11 Million Vaccinated with 1st dose.

Pandemic still killing U.S.

Covid-19 virus and its variants are spreading.

President-elect Joe Biden received the second dose of covid-19 vaccine

on Jan 11, 2021.

The variant which is 70% more contagious has now been found in New York and Georgia.

The states need help with a devised logistics plan to allocate and administer the vaccines.   Currently there are 50 states with 50 distribution plans.   Some have   suggested delaying the 2nd dose or cutting the doses in half to protect more people. FDA, covid-19 committee, and CDC are against this method of administering the vaccines; take as directed.

Los Angeles (LA), CA under Pandemic siege - In Los Angeles County 1 out of 5 are testing positive for the virus. Deaths are soaring, up 1400% and hospitalizations are up 680%.There are no more ICU beds.

It takes 4-8 hours to offload patients at the hospitals.   Ambulances are lining up at the Emergency Room doors. Ambulance attendees have been told if patients have little chance of surviving, then do not transport.   Covid-19 victims are being triaged by non-medical professionals who have to make life and death decisions. Patients are treated with oxygen only if their oxygen saturation is below 90%.   Every 8-15 minutes a death is recorded in LA.

The Nation’s daily death rate is over 3500. The National Guard is assisting with administering vaccines in twelve states, including covid-19 ridden California.

NEW PLAN - Trump administration has devised distribution and vaccinating covid-19 rollout plan. Now all vaccines doses will be released. Everyone over 65, Health care professionals and long term care residents will be vaccinated. 2nd dose should be given any later than 12 weeks after the 1st dose. CDC has changed their guidelines.

Good News - John & Johnson may request Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for their vaccine sometime in Feb 2021.

Special Note: there was a 140,000 job loss report for Dec 2020; they were ALL women.

AMERICANS HAVE THE RIGHT TO DESTROY THE DEMOCRACY WHICH GIVES THEM THAT RIGHT.

6 DEAD

On Jan 6, 2021 The USA Capitol was attacked and seized by radicalized, deluded and gullible MAGA Domestic Terrorists.

Six people died, including two Capitol Police members.

The siege did accomplished one of its objectives, it delayed the certification electoral count of President-elect Biden and Vice-President-elect Harris.

The members of both houses were ushered to a ‘Shelter-In-Place (SIP) location within the Capitol. While there some GOP members refused to wear masks, there was no room to social distance. Three democrats, Rep. (NJ) Bonnie Watson Coleman, Rep. (Wash) Pramila Javapol and Rep. (ILL) Bard Schneider contracted covid-19 while housed in SIP room. Now a spouse of one member has covid-19.

To the dismay of many members metal detectors have been installed at the House of Representatives.   Some members fear their colleagues may bring in weapons, such as guns or knives.

WHAT IT MEANS:

Sedition: an overt conduct, such as speech and organization, that tends toward rebellion against the established order. It can include subversion (contradicting values and principles) of a constitution and incitement of discontent toward, or rebellion against established authority. To delay the execution of the laws of the United States. Examples are the speeches made before the assault on our Nation’s Capitol:

Donald Trump - Excerpts from Jan 6, 2021 Speech – Our country has had enough. We will not take it anymore and that’s what this is all about. To use a favorite term that all of you people really came up with, we will stop the steal…You will have an illegitimate president, that’s what you’ll have. And we can’t let that happen…So we’re going to, we’re going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue, I love Pennsylvania Avenue, and we’re going to the Capitol and we’re going to try and give … The Democrats are hopeless. They’re never voting for anything, not even one vote. But we’re going to try and give our Republicans, the weak ones, because the strong ones don’t need any of our help, we’re going to try and give them the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country.

Donald Trump Jr. – “Stand up and fight!”

Rudy Giuliani     - “Let’s haveTrial by combat!”

Representative Mo’ Brooks – “Today American patriots start taking down names and kicking ass!”

COUP: (Coup d ’`etat) – to take power. A sudden and violent overthrow of an existing government by a small group. A political uprising in which power changes hands or the abrupt replacement of leading government personnel. It doesn’t really redistribute power among political groups and it rarely alters a nation’s economic and social policies. The chief prerequisite for a coup is control of all or part of the armed forces, the police, and other military elements.

Insurrection: an act or instance of revolting, rebellion, or resistance against civil authority or an established government.

POTUS Censure: - a formal and public condemnation of an individual’s transgressions. It is stronger than a simple rebuke but not as strong as expulsion.   It is a formal statement of disapproval and formal reprimand; an opinion about the president. On Jan 10, 2021, fifteen terms Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton urged the House and Senate to pass a resolution censuring President Trump for trying to overturn the results of the 2020 Presidential election and inciting an insurrection for the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan 6, 2021. Trump led an attempted coup. Norton said: “President Trump is a clear and present danger to the United States and has committed impeachable offenses.” Norton has served since 1991.

POTUS Resignation: - When the President of the Unites States leaves or quits his office and position. The resignation of the POTUS or Vice-POTUS shall be in writing and subscribed by the person resigning and delivered to the Secretary of State. Usually a resigning President will ask all appointees, who serve at the pleasure of the president, to submit resignations effective immediately when the new president swears in to office. This clears the deck for the new administration.

25th Amendment: The 25th Amendment, ratified in 1967 after John F. Kennedy’s assassination, creates a legal instrument for designating a head of state when the president is disabled or dead.

It formalizes the historical practice for the vice president to permanently take over if the president dies or resigns, and it gives the president and Congress shared power to replace a vice president.

It states that the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet can deem the president "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office." That would put the vice president in the role of acting president, but if the president disputes the claim that he or she is unfit for duty, then two-thirds of both the House and the Senate must vote to put the vice president in charge.

Section 1 - In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President.

Section 2 - Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President; the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

Section 3 - Whenever the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, and until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary, such powers and duties shall be discharged by the Vice President as Acting President.

Section 4 - of the amendment can be used to strip powers away from the president. Excerpt: first paragraph - Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

VP Pence refused to invoke 25th Amendment against Trump. He stated to Nancy Pelosi “I do not believe that such a course of action is in the best interest of our Nation or consistent with our Constitution. I urge you and every member of Congress to avoid actions that would further divide and inflame the passions of the moment.” On Jan 12, 2021 the House had adopted a resolution to invoke the 25th amendment.

Impeachment: the process by which a legislative body addresses charges against a government official. The act of impeachment lets Congress bring charges vs. high-ranking civil officers, in a bid to remove them from office, in this case President Trump.

It is the act of making a formal statement that a public official, such as the POTUS, might be guilty of a serious offense in connection with his or her job.

Representative John Katko became the first House Republican to back Trump impeachment.

Mea Culpa: The Latin way of saying ‘my bad’; my fault. It is an acknowledgement of guilt, e.g., the POTUS offered a mea culpa during the press conference.

~~~~~~~~~~
The President of the United States can be removed from office by: resignation, 25th amendment, or impeachment.
Pandemic Surging
Not Slowing
There are over 352.648 confirmed Covid-19 Deaths in the United States.
We have over 20,750,000 confirmed Cases.
More than 120,463 Hospitalized.
Over 4 Million Vaccinated with 1st dose.
We’ve lost two more congressmen to covid-19;
One from the House and one from the Senate.
                                            AP image                                                               New York Post
                                      Senator Ben Chafin                                          Congressman-elect Luke Letlow
Congressman-elect Luke Letlow passed away at the age of 41 from covid-19 complications on Tuesday Dec 29, 2020; he died days before he was to be sworn into office.
Senator Ben Chafin died at the age of 60 on New Year’s Day Jan 01, 2021. He had contracted covid-19.
The covid-19 variant from the UK has been discovered in Colorado, Southern California and Florida. The UK and South Africa variants have been found in dozens of countries.
The Pandemic is so out of hand in Los Angeles, Ca. that hospitals are extending into parking lots.   Military personnel have been dispatched to help and there may be dreadful decisions made as to who will live or die based on survivability; that needs less attention and treatment. The Intensive Care Units (ICUs) are full.
U.S. Health officials are not surprised about the spread of coronavirus. Americans traveling over the Holidays and the virus going unchecked has created surge upon surge upon surge.
It is projected that there will be 567,000 deaths by Apr 01, 2021 and this is not an April fool’s Joke!   Despite having the vaccines, without Americans constantly practicing CDC’s recommendations of washing hands, wearing masks and social distancing the U.S. will see more lockdowns and mandatory stay-at-home orders before things start to normalize. MASKS UP AMERICA!
“I want people to understand that if you don't take precautions against COVID because you don't feel at risk, it can impact you, your family, your community in so many other ways,"
U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams, MD warned.
Follow Dr. Adams’ 3Ws: WASH Hands, WEAR Masks and WATCH Distancing.
Admiral Brett Giroir, MD, Assistant Secretary for Health, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).   The Admiral has stated that positivity rates are falling and the vaccine rollout has been slow, but the rollout needs time to ramp up.  This is State depended, but states need money for distribution and administering of the vaccines.  The States were allocated $500Mil of which 10% was used, and the newly passed covid-19 relief bill will send more money to the States.  If the nation can achieve 75% - 85% of Americans vaccinated, then we will have herd immunity which will essentially end the pandemic.
Status of unauthorized vaccines:  Johnson & Johnson in phase 3 Trials.  This vaccine requires only a single dose and we may see it requesting Emergency Use Authorization by March 2021.  AstraZeneca is in Phase 3 trials and Novavax which only requires regular refrigeration is beginning the Phase 3 trials.
Republicans don’t want to give relief checks of $2000.00 due to increased government spending.
“Do we turn our backs on struggling working families or do we respond to their pain?”                                                                                                                                   - Senator Bernie Sanders
On Jan 03, 2031 Congress will adjourn without taking up the issue of increasing the $600.00 stimulus checks to $2000.00.  The House, which included 44 Republicans, passed the 4-5 page bill boosting $600 to $2000 on Dec 28, 2020 and passed it over to the Senate.
In order to get the POTUS' signature, Mitch McConnell agreed to Trump’s request to bring the issue of $2000 checks, 230 section and investigation into election fraud to the Senate floor. Thus, Trump signed the COVID-19 Relief Bill and the Spending Bill on Dec 27, 2020 which had been combined into a 5593 page humongous legislation.
Deserving Americans are starting to receive the $600.00 payouts. The $300.00 unemployment checks which are expiring after 11 weeks on Mar 14, 2021 are also due to be distributed; however because of Trump’s delay in signing the bill, some may receive only 10 weeks of payments.
President Trump’s veto of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) was overridden by Congress and the Senate. This averted a national government shutdown.
update 12-24-20
MODERNA Vaccine is approved and received
Emergency Use Authorization.
There are over 329.491 Covid-19 Deaths in the United States.
We have over 18,633,794 confirmed Cases.
More than 119,463 Hospitalized.
Over 1 Million Vaccinated with 1st dose.
New Moderna and the Pfizer vaccine are rolling out for delivery to each state and Puerto Rico. The vaccines will be delivered to FEDEX world hub in Tennessee and UPS world hub in Kentucky. From there they will be distributed to 3700 hot spots in all the states via ground and air. The Pfizer vaccine has to be stored at subzero temperature, but the Moderna vaccine can be stored in an ordinary refrigerator freezer.
Some states have complained that they received 40% less doses than were promised. The Chief of Operations, Gustave Perna, for Operation Warp Speed has stated that this was a planning and logistics error, and he takes full responsibility.  Pfizer has agreed to supply 100 million doses by the end of July 2021 to help offset a potential shortage.
Six million doses of the Moderna vaccine are being distributed and administered as of Dec 21, 2020. The vaccines will probably reach the general population by late summer/early fall.
Since they are local to communities, pharmacies such as CVS, Walgreens and Rite-Aids will take part in administering both of the vaccines.
If you have just received the flu vaccine, shingles, or other immunization, wait at least two weeks before getting the Covid-19 vaccine.
      President-elect Joseph Biden receiving 1st dose of Pfizer vaccine                Dr. Anthony Fauci getting Moderna vaccine
Four Health care workers in Illinois and three in Alaska were temporarily hospitalized after receiving their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Their symptoms included tingling and rapid heart palpitations. Dr. Hussein Sadrzadeh  of Boston, developed symptoms so severe after receiving the moderna vaccination that he had to use an EpiPen.  Dr. Sadrzadeh believes his reaction was because of the vaccine.
Priority List of Phases for receiving the Vaccinations
  • 1a Health Care personnel Workers and Long-term care residents
  • 1b Frontline essential workers and People aged 75 and older
  • 1c People aged 65-74 and people age 16-64 with high-risk medical conditions
                   and other essential workers. (Essential workers are to be defined by State and Local Governments.)
Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, a Doctor and Republican, says people who have already had Covid-19 should not get the vaccinations. The CDC and Covid-19 committee disagree with him.
GOP lawmakers have often lamented that Covid-19 virus is a Democratic hoax, and have even gotten Trump supporters to think that the virus is not real and not happening. The Republicans mocked and taunted those who believed in the virus and followed the CDC guidelines for washing hands, using masks and practicing social distancing. Now that the vaccines are here, they want to be first in line to get vaccinated.
STOP the Brits
A natural attribute of viruses is to mutate and spread. A new strain of Covid-19 has been discovered in the United Kingdom (UK). It is more contagious.
There is a second variant in South Africa. It is transmissible to children and can cause disease in children. This second strain has some characteristics as the UK variant but it is more infectious and deadly to children.
                                                                                              UK PM Boris Johnson
                                                                                              Bing.com/images
Prime Minister Boris Johnson        has shut down the UK,stopped Christmas and the Holiday season. Trade across the English Channel has been halted and delivery trucks (Lorries), large and small, are stuck without ferries to cross the English channel and so they have nowhere to go.   This lack of trade and deliveries of goods, have Londoners suffering from shortages, especially fruits and vegetables. The latest Pandemic surges, and new Covid-19 strains has London looking like a ghost town.  It looks like everyone has gone into hiding. The United Kingdom is under siege.
The White House is considering travelers from the UK present proof of a negative virus test before entering the United States, while forty other nations, including Canada are banning flights from the UK. These nations are closing their doors over concerns of new Covid-19 strains.  A traveler from the UK to  Sweden tested positive for the new strain and is now in quarantine. There are six daily flights from the UK to New York. Due to UK’s proximity to the U.S., the new strain found in the UK is probably already here. A ban may have some limitations of effectiveness.
If Covid-19 continues to mutate like the Flu virus, Americans may have to be inoculated against a new strain every year. The Spike Protein in the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines may make it harder for the Coronavirus to mutate too much. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines may be effective against the new strains.
In the U.S.
Don’t Go!
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has projected 93,000 more Covid-19 deaths in the next three weeks. There are warnings against traveling during this Holiday season, especially with the newly found variants in
the UK and South Africa. Vice President Pence, Head of the Pandemic Task Force is going skiing and Trump is traveling to Florida. Despite warnings of Pandemic surge of new cases, hospitalizations and more deaths, Americans are on the move with an estimate of 8.5 million traveling by air this Holiday season.
#STAY SAFE     #STAY STRONG     #STAY HOME
On inauguration day, January 20, 2021, Biden has stated that he will ask all Americans to wear masks for the first 100 days of the new administration.
To mitigate Covid-19 hospitalizations, please remember to wash your hands, wear masks, social distance and stay home as much as possible. The nation’s Health Care Infrastructure is teetering on disaster and our Health Professionals are suffering from stress and strain of experiencing so much illness and deaths. They are suffering from burn-out due to the long hours they are working.
MASKS UP! COVID-19 DOWN!
MAY WE HAVE YOUR SIGNATURE?
The Covid-19 Relief Bill and Spending Bill a bipartisan legislation has passed the Senate and Congress. The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) has also passed both houses. The bills are currently awaiting the President’s signature.
Highlights of Covid-19 Relief  and Spending Bill ($900 Billion + $1.4 Trillion)
This Bill Provides the Following:
  • Paycheck Protection Program – PPP- ($284 Billion) The PPP provides forgivable loans to qualified businesses. Hard-hit business that received PPP grants will be qualified for another loan with this bill and it makes sure that the subsidies are not taxed.
  • Direct Payments ($166 Billion) at $600 for individuals with incomes not exceeding $75K per year and couples making up to $150K. $600 for each child. Phased out payments for those making higher incomes.
  • Unemployment Insurance ($120 Billion) at $300 per week through Mar 14, 2021. Extends “gig” workers benefits and extends state jobless benefits to 50 weeks.
  • Schools and Universities ($82 Billion) Public K schools ($54 Billion); Colleges and Universities ($23 Billion); Governors Emergency Education Relief Fund ($4 Billion); Native American schools ($1 Billion)
  • Vaccines, Health Providers ($69 Billion) Mental Health ($4.5 Billion); Health care providers ($9 Billion); Testing, tracing and mitigation ($22 Billion); Vaccines procurement and treatment, distribution funds for states and strategic stockpiles ($30 Billion).
  • Food and Farm Aid ($26 Billion) Stamp benefits increased by 15% for 6 months. Provides funding to meals on Wheels, food banks and other food programs. Provides ($13 Billion) to our farmers and ranchers.
  • Rental Assistance ($25 Billion) This is the first federal rental assistance program to provide funds to be distributed by state and local governments to those behind in their rent and facing threats of eviction. The eviction moratorium is extended until Jan 30, 2021.
  • The bill also establishes an American Women History museum, an American Latino museum and a program to get rid of the invading murder hornets.
Those who previously received stimulus checks and small businesses who received PPE grants with last stimulus bill will see relief payments sooner than later. They will be first.
Note: Unemployment and Covid-19 benefits from last Stimulus bill will expire at the end of December 2020.
The Covid-19 Relief package has to be sign by end of Saturday, Dec 26 2020, if not, Americans would lose unemployment benefits and will not get stimulus checks and other benefits in the bill. The Spending Bill has to be signed by 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, Dec 29, 2020. The President not signing the Spending bill will force a Federal Government shutdown because the nation will be out of money due to not having a new budget.
Trump’s Veto. President Trump is threatening to veto the Covid-19 Relief Bill, stating that it does not go far enough and is a disgrace and would like to see the package amended. He would like to see $2000 per person and $4000 per couple. Democrats agree. They proposed this a year ago. He also states that the bill has little to do with Covid-19.  Republicans object to the $2000 direct payments.
“At last, the President has agreed to $2000 - Democrats are ready to bring this to the Floor this week by unanimous consent. Let’s do it!”    - Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi
Trump did not take any part in the negotiations for the relief package, so it seems strange that he would oppose it at this late date; however, the bill passed with veto proof majorities in the House and the Senate. The President’s veto may be overridden and this legislation will pass without his signature.
Steve Mnuchin
   The 77th Secretary of Treasury, Steve Mnuchin, negotiated this deal without Trump’s participation or input. Mnuchin negotiated the $600 stimulus checks, even though Trump wanted larger payouts. Apparently, the President did not communicate his wishes to the GOP and his Secretary of the Treasury. The POTUS also wants to cut out what he terms as "pork", such as, Foreign Aid.
If this bill is vetoed, some Americans will continue to be hungry, unemployed, homeless and those that are housed, may face evictions.  Our schools and Universities will suffer, vaccines will be in storage and not in our arms. Health Care Infrastructure will be overwrought and in trouble. There will be food shortages.  The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) will cease to exist and small businesses will continue to close their doors forever.
Without the President signing this bill, the United States will not have a new budget and no money.  The nation be forced to shutdown which is not an option during a Pandemic and amid cyber security attacks.
The National Defense Authorization Act – NDAA ($740 Billion) This legislature passed in Congress with a vote of 335 to 78 and in the Senate with 84 to 13 votes, thus clearing the 67-vote threshold required to override a Presidential veto.
This bill has passed for the past 59 years because it is vital to National Security and our military.  This bill outlines the budget, expenditures, and policies of the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) for fiscal year 2021.   The legislation specifies how military policy is handled.  Besides pay raises, for our deserving military personnel, there are new benefits for our forgotten Viet Nam heroes and veterans. It contains a commission to study renaming military bases that have been names for Confederate leaders and icons. It excludes repeal for policy protecting social media companies from liability for certain types of content, e.g., illegal posts. Equipment modernization and provisions for upgrading Cyber Security are also part of the NDAA. Some members of Congress and Senate feel that repeal of the Communications Decency Act, Section 230, is not related to our National Security.
Trump vetoed the NDAA – Trump did not like the renaming of military bases and installations that have been named for persons in the Confederate. He also did not like section 230, which provides a provision for social media companies, like Twitter and Facebook, from being responsible and liable forthird party posts on their platforms. If Internet allow illegal posts and misinformation on their web sites then they would not be responsible.  The Department of Defense (DOD), the military, our troops, veterans, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) are the big losers with this veto.
House Minority Leader, Kevin McCarthy will work to sustain the President’s veto.
“For our military, I want you to know there’s never been a President who has your back like I do.”
                                                                                                           - President Trump   (Oct 8. 2020)
“Don’t let Joe Biden take credit for the vaccines, because the vaccines were me”.- Trump
“We’re at war with the virus not with one another, not with each other”.                  - Biden
There is a need for 70% of USA population to receive the Covid-19 vaccination to adequately track the vaccine’s long-term efficacy.
“There is a long road ahead of us… The supplies will be limited in the beginning. Distribution will be challenging”.--- Dr. Luciana Borio - member, Biden’s Covid-19 advisory board and former director of Medical and Biodefense Preparedness, National Security Council
The vaccine has arrived in all 50 States and Puerto Rico. Health Professionals in all states are receiving the first vaccinations. Next week the Covid-19 committee, FDA and CDC will work toward approving the MODERNA vaccine.
Pfizer and MODERNA use mRNAwhich stands for messenger ribonucleic acid… “When one particular gene needs to do its work, it makes a copy of itself, which is called messenger RNA.”
The two vaccines never touch your DNA and thus do not interfere with your human genes.
Every cell in the body carries a full set of instructions for proteins that keep our bodies functioning. If the instruction set is changed then this can lead to disease. Thus, our DNA never leaves the cells’ nucleus which is a protective membrane-covered bubble within the cells. In order the make protein from the DNA code, RNA polymerase unzips sections of double stranded DNA and makes a single-stranded copy mRNA.
This mRNA makes its way out of the nucleus into the rest of the cell, where it runs into ribosomes. These are the cell’s protein factories. Ribosomes read off the recipe carried by the mRNA, using the cell’s tools to assemble a string of amino acids that ultimately become a protein.
This is how the Covid-19 vaccine works. The built-in cellular system is taken advantage of by the vaccines. The actual vaccination shot delivers a very microscopic fatty package into our cells which carries a designer mRNA sequence of instructions. When the mRNA meet up with the Ribosomes, they use the cell’s tool kit to create a protein that mimics the SARS-CoV-2 virus---specifically, part of its spike protein coating. This new mRNA is interpreted as if it was our own DNA, but our real DNA is still safely locked in our cells’ nucleus and doesn’t get touched. Remember the mRNA only copiedsections of our DNA.
When other entities in our cells see the SARS-CoV-2 virus spike protein coating floating around in the cell, it is viewed as a threat. This protein can’t hurt us, but it’s enough to trick immune cells into thinking they need to build up antibody protection against it—which is how we are protected from developing Covid-19 once we get vaccinated.
“In theory, mRNA vaccines also hold the potential for making other vaccines at lightning speed. As soon as scientists can genetically sequence new pathogens, they can start determining the mRNA required to build key proteins within them. This means that future vaccines could be produced on the same rapid timeline as Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccines”.
Caveats:
Pfizer and Modernaare virtually experimental vaccines in that they are the first to use mRNA. In place of mRNA, AstraZenecauses a harmless cold virus called ‘adenovirus’ to stimulate a protective response against Covid-19. All of the vaccines require 2doses; however, you must be careful in that both of your vaccinations must be by the same manufacturer and cannot be mixed. For example, if you first shot is by Pfizer, then you second shot must also be by Pfizer.
Covid-19 Relief Billis for $916B which is considerable less than the $1.8 Trillion which was once offered by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to the House. The 1.8 trillion will probably now go to to Trump to finish the wall that is being paid for by Mexico. The $916 billion; however, will supposedly give a $600 payment to many Americans, or at least a monthly check of $300.00
Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s personal attorney, contracted Covid-19 and was admitted to Georgetown University Hospital on 6 Dec 2020. He received the $100K cocktail, courtesy of USA taxpayers, and was released 3 days later. He’s doing fine.
President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President Pence are scheduled to publicly get their first Covid-19 vaccinations. Pence will receive his vaccination before television viewers on Friday Dec 18, 2020, and Biden will receive his next week.
On Dec 4, 2020 The House of Representatives voted to decriminalize marijuana. This bill passed along party lines as expected. There were 222 Democrats, 5 Republicans, and one libertarian, Rep. Justin Amash, who voted to pass the bill and 158 Republicans and 6 Democrats voted against decriminalizing marijuana.
Decriminalizing marijuana is not expected to pass in the Senate.
Texas Representative (D-Austin), Joe Moody, feels the legalized cannabis will stimulate Texas economy and provide the state with lucrative revenues. Legalized marijuana will help to alleviate stress and strain on Law enforcement resources. Arresting and jailing citizens for having small amounts of marijuana takes law officers away from more serious crimes.
The bill will also alleviate the disparity between conviction rates for whites and non-whites, with non-whites getting stiffer penalties and longer jail sentences.
The marijuana legislation is called the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act. It removes marijuana from the controlled substance list and gets rid of criminal penalties for manufacturing, distributing or possessing marijuana. It also expunges or removes prior federal convictions going back to the 1970s, allowing review hearings for those serving time for federal marijuana offenses.
There would be at least a 5% federal tax on the product that would be used for job training, legal, and other services for people affected by the war on drugs.
